Mike & Suzanne Schumann
Mike and Suzanne founded Traditions in 1987 in a newly renovated building on the corner of Selby and Dale, in St. Paul’s historic Ramsey Hill neighborhood. Suzanne has the creative vision and passion for home furnishings and design that gives Traditions its unique sense of style. Mike provides the back office, computer, and marketing expertise that keep the wheels turning.
David joined Traditions in 2007. Interior Design runs in his blood, having worked in his father’s upholstery shop while growing up in Kentucky.
David has been a resident of Naples since 1999. His biggest frustration is the inability to take his Golden Retriever Cede for walks on the Naples beach.
David has furnished numerous homes for clients in Port Royal and other prestigious Naples neighborhoods, as well as worked on award winning design projects in his native Louisville and the surrounding towns in southern Indiana.
Karen joined our Naples store as a Design Consultant in the Fall of 2012. Originally from Maine, Karen moved to Manhattan in the 80s to study art history and design. In 1992, Karen came to Naples for a six month visit, and never left.
Prior to joining Traditions, Karen worked in the fine art world as a gallery director and appraiser. For the last seven years, she was primarily focused on the post-war contemporary art investment market. With a passion for Interior Design and her art background, Karen is looking forward to helping clients bring their homes to life.
Kersten joined our Naples, FL staff in early 2012 after graduating from the University of Maryland with a BA in Graphic Design and Communication.
In addition to working on customer design projects, Kersten assists in developing Traditions’ marketing programs, including graphic design for our advertising, maintaining our web site and is the creative source behind our Facebook presence. In her spare time, Kersten enjoys lounging at Naples’ pristine beaches.
Mary joined Traditions as a college intern in 1987. She has the distinction of being our 1st employee! Over the years, Mary has served in every conceivable role in the company, from Sales Person, to Bookkeeper, to Merchandiser…..
Currently Mary is responsible for merchandising and managing and the day to day operation of both of our Minnesota stores. In addition, Mary is an integral part of Suzanne’s buying team to ensure that Traditions is the fashion leader in bringing the freshest looks and styles to the Twin Cities home furnishing market.
After 20 years moving around the world as an Air Force spouse, Rhonda settled down in St. Paul and joined Traditions in 1997. As an Air Force Academy graduate, her son Ryan carries on the family tradition, flying KC135 tankers in support of our troops around the world.
Over the years, Rhonda has furnished numerous luxury home models for builders in the Twin Cities. She has also worked on a wide variety of major interior design projects, including furnishing a number of stately homes on St. Paul’s Summit Avenue, as well as helping customers with vacation homes in South Carolina, Florida, and Lake Superior’s Apostle Islands.
Carolynn joined Traditions in 2008 after ten years in the home furnishings industry. A two time state tennis champion, pool shark, and left wing hockey player, Carolynn is the person to call if you need a ringer.
Her background in Art History, is a great asset when working on design projects for the many historic homes in the Twin Cities area.
After many years in the home furnishings industry, Kathy joined Traditions in 2008. She has assisted customers with a wide variety of interior design projects, including redecorating a home for the Summit Avenue House Tour, remodeling a lake home in Wisconsin, and furnishing a residence on Lake Minnetonka.
Most recently, Kathy has had numerous projects helping empty nesters downsize into condominiums, which provides many challenges in balancing the desire to hold on to cherished memories, while rescaling one’s lifestyle to fit a more compact environment.
Mary De Langhe-Jones
Mary originally joined the Traditions team in 1997. She studied design in Dakota County, MN and Houston, TX where she worked for seven years at a local design center. However, her love for landscape design and hiking in the Black Hills drew her back to Minnesota, where she rejoined our Traditions team in the Spring of 2013.
Mary has designed homes across the country, including Texas, Colorado, Florida, South Dakota, California, Utah & Wisconsin. In the Twin Cities, her work has been featured on the luxury home tour.

Jean rejoined Traditions in 2013 after working in corporate America for 8 years as a chemical engineer. Her mother an artist and her father an engineer, Jean got the best of both worlds.
At a young age, Jean recognized her creative side and learned to sew. Helping friends decorate their homes, she found her passion for design, and in 2002, received an associates degree in interior design from Dakota County Tech College. Jean loves helping clients translate their wants and needs into beautiful and comfortable interiors.
An avid yogie and boater, Jean dreams of going zip lining in Costa Rica and teaching English in S. Korea.
After initially pursuing Culinary studies at Jonson & Wales University, Lauren graduated from Iowa State University in 2014 with a degree in Hospitality Management. With a passion for cooking and traveling, Lauren lived for 6 months in Cork, Ireland where she had some of the best meals of her life!
Growing up, Lauren spent most of her spare time watching HGTV and fell completely in love with interior design. As she got older, Lauren and her mom spent their weekends gallivanting around the Twin Cities attending home tours. She is the newest member of the Traditions team and looks forward to soaking up as much information as she can!
Sharon has been with Traditions since 1996. She runs our office and is responsible for all of the details that need to happen for furniture to get from the factory to our customer’s homes in a timely and efficient manner. On the side, she is the go-to person at Traditions for the latest movie tips.
